The Disparity Between Educational Preparation and the Expectations of Practice

In January 1990, more than 200 leaders from the occupational therapy profession gathered together in San Diego, California, at the Directions for the Future Symposium. Critical issues concerning practice, education, and research were discussed and numerous ideas were shared. During the next year, this column will publish a number of articles that explore some of the more provocative of these issues.
